About us
We are The Mirror Foundation, Chiang Rai. Mirror has two other locations, Bangkok and Chiang Mai - links to their websites can be found in the Weblinks list on the left side of this page.
Mirror Chiang Rai was established in 1999, about 8 years after the Mirror Art Group began. The name was changed to The Mirror Foundation in 2004 after it gained NGO status.

Since 2019 our project structure has changed. Rather than having a dozen independent projects, such as Ecotours, Thai Citizenship, Thai Volunteer Teachers, etc, which were financially responsible for their own budgets, the projects now come under the umbrella of the foundation itself.

The Mirror Foundation is a grassroots Thai non-governmental organisation, founded more than thirty years ago. The organisation is split into three distinct groups:
- The Mirror Foundation, Chiang Rai
- The Mirror Foundation, Bangkok
- Rai Som school, Chiang Mai
Whilst there is regular contact between the teams, and a certain amount of work which overlaps, the vast majority of the projects are mutually exclusive. Bangkok focuses on urban problems, Chiang Rai concentrates on issues related to the lack of citizenship among ethnic minorities, and Rai Som is our private school for stateless children.
